Xiamen is situated on the southeast coast of China. On the opposite side of Taiwan Strait is Taiwan Island. Xiamen has a land area of more than 1,565.09 square kilometers, and a sea area of 300 square kilometers. It enjoys a subtropical climate, mild and temperate with abundant rainfall. Its annual average temperature is approximately 21 C. Thanks to the favorable environment, Xiamen has become an international harbor and tourist resort.
